Methamphetamine/Cash seized off I-75 in Laurel County, Kentucky, LSO Deputy injured during the Arrests

Rains Sizemore meth arrest

LONDON, KY (August 19, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett arrested two individuals early Wednesday morning August 18, 2021 at approximately 5:17 AM.

The arrests occurred on I – 75 approximately 3 miles South of London following an attempted traffic stop on a northbound gold colored Chrysler PT Cruiser. Once deputies activated their emergency equipment the vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound on I- 75 before finally colliding with a guard rail and coming to a stop.

During the stop the driver was observed attempting to conceal a set of digital scales. During the subsequent investigation, the 2 occupants were found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and a large amount of US currency.

The female passenger in the vehicle was placed in Deputy Tommy Houston's patrol vehicle and upon arrival at the Detention Ctr., Deputy Houston noted a large amount of Methamphetamine in the back seat area where the female subject had sat and it was determined that the female subject had a large amount of Methamphetamine concealed on her person and had attempted to dispose of it in the backseat of the police cruiser.

When Deputy Houston attempted to clean the backseat area of his patrol vehicle, he suffered an unintentional possible exposure to Fentanyl and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Sizemore Rains 8 18 21

The driver – Calvin Zachary Sizemore age 24 of Rita Ln., London, KY charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle

The passenger – Natosha Danielle Rains age 24 of Fairbanks Ave., Barbourville, KY charged with:

  • Promoting contraband
  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim

In addition, this individual was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court for arraignment on charges of;

  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia; public intoxication – controlled substances

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional center.
