Evasive Subject in possession of Meth and Needles discovered to be Wanted in Knox County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Deputy Dustin Saylor arrested Mercadez Jackson age 27 of Swan Ridge Dr., Barbourville, KY on Wednesday night, September 15, 2021 at approximately 8:30 PM.

The arrest occurred off Robert E Cox Road, approximately 9 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a disturbance complaint there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies conducted an investigation on a female subject there.

The female subject became evasive giving deputies false information about her identity and date of birth.

On two occasions she was warned giving false information is a violation and finally following further investigation by deputies gave her correct identifying information.

It was learned that she had three outstanding warrants of arrest.

During arrest this individual was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine on her person along with two hypodermic needles.

Mercadez Jackson was charged with:

  • Giving officer false identifying information
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Also this subject was charged on:

1. A Knox Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

2. A Knox County District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Heroin

3. A 2nd Knox district court warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine; public intoxication – controlled substances.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
