LONDON, KY (October 3, 2021) - Ernest Ray Rudder "E.R.", age 74, of London, Kentucky passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Saint Joseph London Hospital.

E.R. Rudder was a well known, well thought of citizen in Laurel County who wore several hats throughout his career as he worked to make the county he loved dearly a better and safer place for all.  The following statements were released from agencies in Laurel County.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of E.R. Rudder. He was an asset to the community and will be greatly missed. He was a founding member of Bush Fire Dept. in 1975 and held the rank of Captain. He was also a Deputy with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and the former principal of Sublimity Elementary. Our prayers are with his family this week.

The London Police Department would like to express sincere condolences for the loss of E.R. Rudder, a retired Laurel County Sheriff's Sergeant, retired school teacher, and founding member of the Bush Fire Department. We offer our prayers, sympathy, and support to his family and friends during this time of mourning.

Funeral services for retired Laurel County Sheriff's Sergeant E.R. Rudder were conducted on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 7880 East Laurel Road, London, Kentucky with Pastor Trent Pool and Rev. David Thomas officiating. A private burial followed at the Hacker Family Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were: Members of Bush Fire Department and Laurel County Sheriff's Department. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

London Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
