Drugs Arrest in Leslie County, Kentucky after Suspect's Vehicle strikes Cruiser on Cutshin Road

HYDEN, KY - The Leslie County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that on Thursday, October 7, 2021 Chief Deputy Jeremy Vega arrested Charlene Baker on traffic violations, DUI and drug charges.

Answering a reckless driving complaint from Leslie County Dispatch, Chief Deputy Jeremy Vega went to the Wooton area in an attempt to locate a white SUV driven by Baker, upon locating her on Cutshin Road a traffic stop was initiated.

Baker stopped in a driveway that was inclined, while Chief Deputy Vega approached the vehicle, Baker exited the vehicle with her foot still on the brake and stated she couldn’t get it in park, a few seconds later she lost her footing and the vehicle rolled down the driveway and onto Cutshin Road striking the front push bar of Chief Deputy Vega’s Sheriff’s cruiser.

Field Sobriety tests were preformed and it was determined Baker was under the influence.

Upon search of Baker’s vehicle, Marijuana and Methamphetamine was found.

Charlene Baker of Smilax, KY was charged with:

•Expired registration plates
•Failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st
•Operating on suspended operators license
•Operating motor vehicle under influence 1st
•Possession of Marijuana
•Possession controlled substance 1st (Methamphetamine)

Charlene Baker was lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
