Man wanted on Warrant of Arrest located with Handgun & Drugs by Deputies answering call from Dispatch about a Passed out or possibly Deceased Person inside parked Vehicle in Leslie County, Kentucky

Rodney Baker arrest 10 8 21

HYDEN, KY - On Friday, October 8, 2021 Chief Deputy Jeremy Vega and Deputy Sam Roberts answered a call from the Leslie County Dispatch about someone past out or possibly deceased in a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Big Branch Road in the Wooton community of Leslie County.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they came into contact with a Rodney Baker, who was disoriented.

Deputies noticed an empty gun holster on Baker and ammunition in the vehicle.

Deputies then got Baker out of the vehicle to pat him down for firearms, at which time a glass smoking pipe with suspected Methamphetamine inside was seen hanging out of Baker’s pocket.

Upon this observation deputies searched Baker and his vehicle and found a bag of suspected crystal Methamphetamines and a 9mm SIG handgun model 320 that had been defaced and replaced with incorrect poorly engraved serial numbers.

Baker also had an active bench warrant out for his arrest.

Rodney Baker of Wooton, KY was charged with: 

•Possession of drug paraphernalia
•Possession controlled substance 1st (methamphetamine)
•Possession of defaced firearm
•Bench warrant-Failure to appear

Rodney Baker was lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
