Two charged with Trafficking during Search for Wanted Suspect after K9 assisted Discovery of Drugs and Cash in Knox County, Kentucky

BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that Sheriff Mike Smith and deputies responded to a residence on Mary Payne Lane in Boone Heights early Wednesday afternoon October 20, 2021 in an effort to arrest 25-year-old Tyler Bright of Barbourville who was being sought on a Controlled Substance Trafficking indictment warrant.

Sheriff Smith and deputies arrived at the location to find the residence occupied by only a female, 25-year-old Kibra Bright also of Barbourville.

Tyler was found a short time later attempting to hide in a structure located on the property.

The search for Bright, and a subsequent search with a Laurel County K9 produced a large amount of suspected Methamphetamine with a street value of over $14,000 as well as a large amount of cash.

Both Tyler and Kibra Bright were arrested at the location.

Tyler Bright was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance - 1st degree, 1st offense (greater than 2 grams - Methamphetamine)

Tyler Bright was also served an indictment warrant for:

  • Trafficking in controlled substance
  • Conspiracy to trafficking in controlled substance
  • Persistent felony offender - 2nd degree

Kibra Bright was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance - 1st degree, 1st offense (greater than 2 grams - Methamphetamine)

Both individuals were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
