Investigation in Pulaski County, Kentucky Implicates Suspect in Burglaries of multiple Storage Units

SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Greg Speck is reporting that on Saturday, November 13, 2021, Deputies were dispatched to a storage building on Oak Hill Road. The caller reported a break-in of a storage building where one of the storage units had several items taken.

The victim reported the burglary occurred during the previous overnight hours. Some of the items taken were a zero-turn mower and trailer; both valued together at $6000.00. Several thousand dollars worth of tools and toolboxes were stolen as well.

Deputy Dan Pevley worked this investigation and sent out a message to other Deputies and Staff at the Sheriff's Office about the break-in to alert them if they had similar cases or received any information about this case.

Deputy Pevley had also received surveillance photos from the storage units and sent them out to Deputies and Staff. In the photos, it showed someone with a partial face covering near a U-Haul truck.

On November 14, 2021, at approximately 12:15 PM, Deputy Trent Massey and Deputy Kyle Edwards were patrolling on Tanglewood Drive when they saw a U-Haul truck sitting in a driveway on Tanglewood.

The Deputies compared a photograph of the truck with the one that Deputy Pevley had sent out.

Deputies were able to match some of the identifiers on the truck with those in the photographs.

Deputies then made contact with Timothy K. Hill there at that residence.

Through their investigation, the Deputies learned that Mr. Hill was involved in burglaries of multiple storage units.

Deputies recovered the zero-turn mower on the property, which was taken from the Oak Hill storage unit. They were also aware of a washer and dryer, dining room table and chairs, a "job box" set of tools, and a utility trailer.

Total property stolen is believed to be in the area of $10,000 to 12,000 dollars.

These additional items mentioned above were recovered later that evening by Massey and Edwards, along with the utility trailer.

As far as the Deputies have learned, several other storage units have been broken into, and those investigations continue.

Deputy Trent Massey and Deputy Kyle Edwards arrested Timothy K. Hill, age 32, Sugar Tree Hollow Road in Tateville.

Timothy Hill was charged with:

  • Burglary and Theft by Unlawful Taking over $10,000

This individual was transported and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center, where he remains lodged as of this press release.

The investigation of the break-ins of the storage units continues by Deputy Dan Pevley, Deputy Trent Massey, Deputy Kyle Edwards, and Deputy Brett Thomas.

Sheriff Greg Speck attributes to this success were Deputies and Staff working together and communicating to get the initial information out. "The Deputies worked hard to solve this case and return the property to one of the victims," said Sheriff Speck.
