MURDER ARREST IN KENTUCKY DURING DEATH INVESTIGATIONS INITIATED BY THE DISCOVERY OF A DEAD WOMAN INSIDE ABANDONED VEHICLE

CADIZ, KY (December 10, 2021) – The  Kentucky State Police is reporting that on Thursday, December 9, 2021 Kentucky State Police were requested to investigate a death in Trigg County.  Just before 10:30 AM, a Trigg County Deputy located an abandoned vehicle on KY 124 (Cerulean Road), west of Cerulean.  The deputy discovered a deceased female in the passenger seat of the vehicle.  

Kentucky State Police detectives began their investigation and identified the deceased as 34-year-old, Candace Marcel of Hopkinsville, KY. 

Cerulean Road was closed for several hours while investigators conducted their work.

The investigation into Marcel’s death led detectives to a residence on Clearman Court in Hopkinsville. 

A search warrant was conducted on the residence of Marcel where detectives located a deceased male who was identified as 35-year-old, Stanley Bussell also of Hopkinsville.  Bussell was the registered owner of the vehicle where Candace Marcel had been located.

Hopkinsville Police began investigating the death of Bussell as a homicide. 

As a result of both investigations, the Hopkinsville Police Department arrested 49-year-old Bobby Spikes of Hopkinsville, KY.

Bobby Glen Spikes was charged with:

  • The murder of Stanley Bussell

This individual was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.

Detectives with Kentucky State Police, Post 1, are working closely with Hopkinsville Police Department to investigate the two deaths that are closely related.

The investigations into both deaths are continuing.
