ARRESTS: Fire Department shot up in Fancy Farm, Kentucky just Hours after Deadly Tornado ripped through Graves County

FANCY FARM, KY (December 22, 2021) - On Monday, December 20, 2021 the Graves County Sheriff's Office reported an update of the “shooting up” of the Fancy Farm Fire Department that happened only hours after the deadly tornado ripped through Graves County on Friday night December 10, 2021.

The investigation continued on twelve bullet holes that were noted in the entrance door of the fire department.

Previously, a written statement from a witness identified 18 year old Landon Thomas (right) as the shooter, and was given to detectives.

The investigation revealed that the witness, A 16 year old juvenile was in fact the shooter, along with another 16 year old juvenile.

Both juveniles confessed to their involvement and the intentional false statement, falsely identifying Thomas as the shooter.

Both juveniles were taken into custody and ordered held at a juvenile detention center by the Graves County District Court Judge.

Landon Thomas 18 of Fancy Farm was arrested Monday afternoon at approximately 2:00 P.M. on an outstanding unrelated felony warrant charging him with:

  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Burglary
  • Criminal Mischief

Both juveniles, age 16 were charged with:

  • 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment
  • Criminal Mischief

Only one of the two juveniles was additionally charged with:

  • Giving a known false statement to investigators

No firefighters were injured in the shooting as all were out helping in the search and recovery efforts across Graves County.

These three arrests occurred at around 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Graves Sheriff’s deputies have been investigating an incident where several gun shots were fired into the Fancy Farm Farm Fire Department.

The shooting occurred at approximately 5:15 A.M. Saturday morning about 7 hours after the tornado struck our county. Fortunately no firefighters were in the building at the time of the shooting, as they were involved in rescues around the county.

The investigation has led deputies to obtaining an arrest warrant charging 18 year Landon S. Thomas of Fancy Farm and the Mayfield area of Graves County.

Thomas is facing charges of:

1. 1st Degree Criminal Mischief
2. 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment

There is also an active felony arrest warrant for this same suspect charging him with:

  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Burglary
  • Theft of Automobile
  • Criminal Mischief also out of Graves County on an unrelated investigation
