MOREHEAD, KY - The Kentucky State Police is reporting that on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at approximately 12:17 PM, Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead received a call for assistance from Morehead Dispatch with a residential structure fire. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered human remains inside the burnt residence.
The human remains were identified as Lloyd J. Riddle, 81 years of age from Morehead.
Investigators worked together to determine the cause of the fire. During the investigation, detectives were able to obtain evidence to charge a juvenile in regards to the fire and the death of Lloyd Riddle.
The juvenile is charged with;
- Murder
- Arson 1st Degree
This individual is lodged in a juvenile detention center.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by Morehead Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire Department, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Rowan County Coroner’s Office, State Fire Marshall’s Office, and Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator.
This case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
