KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATES FATAL WRECK ON HIGHWAY 70 IN CALDWELL COUNTY

FREDONIA, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that on Wednesday, January 05, 2022, at approximately 12:54 PM, KSP Post 2, Madisonville, was requested by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an injury collision that occurred three miles east of Fredonia.

Troopers responded to the scene and preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 International dump truck, being operated by Mr. Timothy D. Crider, 51 of Marion, KY, was traveling westbound on Highway 70 when for an unknown reason, the passenger side of the vehicle dropped off the right travel portion of the roadway. 

Observation of the collision scene revealed after dropping off the roadway, the dump truck traveled back onto the roadway, across the center-line, and exited the opposing shoulder of the roadway.  Upon exiting the roadway, the dump truck overturned causing Crider to be ejected.

Crider was transported from the scene to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana by AirEvac where he later succumbed to his injuries sustained during the collision.

The investigation is ongoing by Master Trooper Ben Sawyer.
