FATAL COLLISION IN BATH COUNTY ON KENTUCKY HIGHWAY 36

OWINGSVILLE, KY (May 10, 2022) –  The Kentucky State Police is reporting that on Friday, May 6, 2022, KSP Post 8, Morehead received a call for assistance from Bath County Dispatch with a two vehicle fatal collision. 

The collision occurred on KY 36 west of Owingsville.

Through the investigation, it was determined Kenneth Hobbs, 18 years of age from Carlisle was traveling east on KY 36 operating a 2000 Chevy S-10.

William Shields, 65 years of age from Sharpsburg was traveling west on KY 36 operating a 1997 Dodge pickup.

Mr. Hobbs struck Mr. Shields causing fatal injuries to William Shields. Mr. Shields was pronounced deceased by Bath County Coroner Andrew Owens.

Kenneth Hobbs was transported to St. Joe Hospital by Bath County EMS then transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Kentucky State Police was assisted by Bath County Sheriff’s Office, Bath County EMS, Bath County Fire and Rescue.

This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
