NARCOTICS SEIZURE, ARRESTS IN WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY FOLLOW A SEPTEMBER 13TH SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE INVESTIGATION IN MONTICELLO

MONTICELLO, KY - The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, a check on a suspicious vehicle lead to the arrest of two Wayne County women in September on drug trafficking charges.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at approximately 2:00 A.M. Deputies Derek Dennis and James Barnett noticed a vehicle sitting in the lot of a Monticello business on South Main Street with a female sitting inside the vehicle and another standing beside it.

It was known to the Sheriff's Office and to the Deputies that drug transactions were occurring at that location.

After approaching the vehicle Deputy Barnett located a cigarette pack laying on a rear tire which contained a plastic bag of suspected Methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle Carrisa D. Pyles age 40 of Monticello, KY admitted that the contents of the bag was Methamphetamine, and she was going to sell it to the other female. The approximate weight of this bag was 4.4 grams.

Before taking her into custody, Deputies Barnett and Dennis agreed to allow Pyles to drive her vehicle to her residence which was located on Frisby Street approximately ½ mile away where she lived with another female, Samantha R. Appleby age 35.

After arriving at the residence, the Deputies followed Pyles inside her residence to secure her keys.

Once walking inside the Deputies observed Marijuana and two bags of suspected Methamphetamine laying in plain view.

Consent to search the residence was obtained.

The search resulted in a set of digital scales along with the following additional Narcotics being located and seized:

  • 15 Alprazolam tablets
  • 30 Clonazepam
  • 2 Hydrocodone tablets
  • 4 capsules that contained suspected Clonazepam and a Methamphetamine mixture
  • A bag with a white powder suspected to be Gabapentin

Appleby stated that all these items belonged to her.

Deputy Derek Dennis arrested both, Carrisa D. Pyles and Samantha R. Appleby.

Carrisa Pyles is charged with:

  • TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)

Samantha Appleby is charged with:

  • TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
  • POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (OPIATES)
  • POSS CONT SUB, 3RD DEGREE - DRUG UNSPECIFIED
  • POSS CONT SUB, 3RD DEGREE - DRUG UNSPECIFIED
  • ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF LEGEND DRUG
  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS

Pyles and Appleby are lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
