FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Cameron has announced that David Mayes, 30, was sentenced in Whitley County Circuit Court for charges of child sexual abuse.
In July, David Mayes pleaded guilty to:
- Two counts of Criminal Abuse First Degree (Class C Felony)
- Two counts of Rape First Degree (Class A Felony)
- One count of Sodomy Second Degree (Class B Felony)
- One count of Sex Abuse First Degree (Class D Felony)
On October 24, 2022, Judge Paul Winchester sentenced Mayes to 15 years in prison.
As part of the sentence, Mayes will be listed on the lifetime sex offender registry, undergo a post incarceration period of conditional discharge, and a 10-year protective order will be put in place for the victims.
The case was investigated by Kentucky State Police. Executive Director of the Special Prosecutions Unit, Rewa Zakharia, prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
