FRANKFORT, KY (December 15, 2022) – Today, the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that HB 563, or the Education Opportunity Account Program, which helps lower-income parents pay for certain educational expenses, was unconstitutional.
The General Assembly passed HB 563 during the 2021 legislative session.
Following the Kentucky Supreme Court's decision, Attorney General Cameron released this statement:
"We're saddened that parents across the Commonwealth won't be able to use the needs-based funding provided by Kentucky's Education Opportunity Account Program to expand learning opportunities for their children. Our office is committed to helping ensure the best educational opportunity for every child."
