Meth Arrests during Complaint Investigation of a passed out Individual in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Greg Poynter arrested two individuals on Tuesday morning January 31, 2023 at approximately 11:41 AM.

The arrests occurred outside a business off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London after Deputy Poynter was dispatched to a complaint of an individual apparently passed out there.

Upon arrival at the scene Deputy Poynter conducted an investigation on an individual found there and found that individual along with another individual in possession of suspected Methamphetamine.

The two arrested individuals were identified as: Tammy L. Johnson age 50 of Valentine Branch Rd., Barbourville, KY. and Alisha Sharpe age 43 of Evergreen Rd., Barbourville, KY

The second individual was determined to be wanted on outstanding warrants.

Tammy Johnson was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

Alisha Sharpe was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

In addition, this subject was also charged on a Knox District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Theft of identity of another without consent

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
