LINN COUNTY, OR (February 8, 2023) - The Oregon State Police is reporting that on Wednesday, February 08, 2023, at approximately 6:00 A.M., OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 228 near milepost 19.
The preliminary investigation revealed a silver GMC Canyon operated by Michael L. Stalford (40) of Foster, Oregon, was westbound on Highway 228 when he lost control of his vehicle crossing the eastbound lane and struck a large tree.
It is believed that the icy road conditions and speed were contributing factors in this crash.
Stalford was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Sweet Home Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
