Attorney General Daniel Cameron opens new Field Office in Southeastern, Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (February 22, 2023) – Attorney General Daniel Cameron joined local officials Wednesday in London for the grand opening of the Attorney General's Laurel County Field Office.

The Laurel County Field Office is Attorney General Cameron's latest effort to provide Kentuckians in London and the surrounding counties with direct access to services offered by the Attorney General's office.

"Working with local leaders, law enforcement, and prosecutors is essential to our efforts to address public safety challenges in the Commonwealth," said Attorney General Cameron. "Over the last three years, I have made it a priority to make the work of our office accessible to communities across Kentucky and opening this field office in London moves us one step closer to that goal."

During the 2022 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly approved Attorney General Cameron's request for funding to establish regional offices to better support Kentuckians and law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

"The General Assembly is committed to partnering with Attorney General Cameron to address local public safety challenges and opening this office in Laurel County is one more step toward that goal" said Senator Brandon Storm. "This new office will provide London, Laurel County, and Southeastern Kentucky with a far greater capability for the Attorney General's office, and we were happy to support it in the last budget cycle."

"We are proud to welcome Attorney General Cameron and his staff to Laurel County and are thankful for their efforts to provide direct access to services," said Representative Shane Baker. "Having a field office, right here in our community will have benefit London and the surrounding area."

Commonwealth's Attorney Jackie Steele provided remarks, alongside Attorney General Cameron, at Wednesday's grand opening ceremony.

"Having boots on the ground in Laurel County will better connect Kentuckians with state services and further the Attorney General's office's ability to support law enforcement and prosecutors," said Jackie Steele, Commonwealth's Attorney for the 27th Judicial Circuit. "We appreciate Attorney General Cameron and the General Assembly's dedication to providing this local support and keeping Kentucky safe."

The field office will be located in the London State Office Building, which houses a number of other state agencies and is near Kentucky State Police Post 11.

In 2021, Attorney General Cameron opened a field office in Northern Kentucky, and last year added another in Bowling Green. The Laurel County location is the third field office to be opened by Attorney General Cameron.

The Attorney General's Office also has locations in Prestonsburg and Louisville. To learn more, visit ag.ky.gov.
