ARRESTS: Police responding to Drug Overdose in Corbin, KY locate Fentanyl, Parents with Three (3) Small Children & a Registered Sex Offender

CORBIN, KY (February 27, 2023) - The Whitley County Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Saturday, February 25, 2023, Deputy Jarrett Carr, Sheriff Bill Elliotte, and KSP Trooper Logan Mallory responded to a residence in Corbin regarding an overdose.

The responding personnel upon arrival conducted an investigation. Located at the residence during the investigation were three (3) small children under the age of 3 years, a quantity of alleged Fentanyl, a registered sex offender, and the parents of the children.

The alleged Fentanyl was seized and the overdose victim was transported to Baptist Health.

The parents were identified as Shandra Dean, age 23 of Corbin, KY and Matthew Dean, age 24 of Corbin, KY. Both were arrested and transported to the Whitley County Detention Center.

Shandra Dean  was charged with:

  • Criminal Abuse 2nd Degree
  • Endangering the Welfare of a minor

Matthew Dean was charged with;

  • Criminal Abuse 2nd Degree
  • Endangering the Welfare of a minor

These two individuals were lodged in Whitley County Detention Center.

There was no further mention of the registered sex offender or the overdose victim's condition at the hospital. Neither was identified in the Whitley County Sheriff Department report published on Facebook.
