Scam from the Past resurfaces in Pulaski County, Kentucky

SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones wants to warn of a scam in our area that we have received multiple times in the past. In the fraud, the scammer poses as a Deputy Sheriff and threatens the victim with some type of legal action if they don't pay up.

THEY PREY ON YOUR FEARS

Be aware that if someone calls stating they are a Deputy or employee with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and try to get you to pay money because you missed court or may be in trouble for some other reason, do not go along with them.

This is not how the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office conducts business. We will not threaten you with jail or some other legal action.

We have received information that recently a scammer contacted someone and started demanding money over the phone. When the citizen challenged the scammer, the scammer hung up.

If you receive one of these calls do not give money, gift cards, set up special accounts like Venmo, PayPal, etc. HANG UP IMMEDIATELY
