BARDSTOWN, KY – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a single-vehicle fatal collision in Nelson County early Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, March 28, at approximately 2:51 EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision involving a tractor-trailer near the 12-mile-marker on the Bluegrass Parkway.
The preliminary investigation revealed Kevin Wright, 57 of Milton, FL, was operating a 2006 Freightliner westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when for unknown reasons, he struck the concrete barrier in a construction zone. After striking the barrier, it appears Wright overcorrected and then traveled across the roadway before striking a guardrail and catching fire.
Wright was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner’s Office.
Both eastbound and westbound lines were closed for several hours in order to allow Troopers to investigate and to allow clean-up crews to clear the scene.
KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson County EMS, and the Nelson County Coroner’s Office.
The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Joseph Pineiroa.
