ARRESTS: Narcotics, Cash, Weapon Seized during Search after K-9 Inspects Vehicle at Traffic Stop in Burnside, Kentucky

SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Bobby Jones is reporting that two Pulaski County men are in custody following a traffic stop that occurred on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

The investigation began when Detectives from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division were conducting surveillance on a suspected drug location in Pulaski County.

Detective Trent Massey observed a vehicle, that was previously at the residence, on Tateville Antioch Road, driving toward Highway 27. Detectives began following the vehicle, which turned off in an attempt to avoid law enforcement.

Detective Tan Hudson got behind the vehicle when it turned back onto Highway 27. Detective Hudson conducted a stop of the vehicle on Antioch Church Road. While on the stop, Detective Trent Massey arrived, with his K-9 "Leo", to assist. Detective Massey deployed K-9 "Leo", to walk around the vehicle. Upon "Leo" completing his walk around the vehicle, Detectives began a search of the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle and occupants, Detectives located baggies of Methamphetamine in the driver’s pocket. In the glove box of the vehicle, Detectives located Methamphetamine, Suboxone, Marijuana, and Cocaine. A revolver was located under the passenger seat.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as: The driver, France Allen Helton, age 41, of Bronston, KY and passenger, Earl David Daulton, age 55, of Burnside, KY. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

France Helton was charged with:

• Failure to Wear Seat Belts
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Over 2 grams) (Methamphetamine) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Under 4 grams) (Cocaine) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense (Over 20 Dosages) (Drug Unspecified) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz.) 1st Offense (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon

Earl Daulton was charged with:

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Over 2 grams) (Methamphetamine) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Under 4 grams) (Cocaine) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense (Over 20 Dosages) (Drug Unspecified) (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz.) 1st Offense (Enhanced by Firearm)
• Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon

These two individuals were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

In total, Detectives recovered approximately 91.46 grams, approximately 1.17 grams of Cocaine, 22.5 Suboxone tablets, $2,630.00 in cash, and a revolver.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Tan Hudson of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. The Pulaski County Narcotics Division was assisted in the investigation by Lieutenant Richard Smith of the Patrol Division.
