SAFE AT HOME ACT SIGNED INTO LAW IN KENTUCKY

Act Will Increase Protections for Domestic Violence Victims

FRANKFORT, KY – Secretary of State Michael Adams released the following statement upon Governor Beshear signing Senate Bill 79, the Safe at Home Act, into law. The act aims to protect victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other sexual offenses.

“I am grateful to Governor Beshear for signing Senate Bill 79 into law,” said Adams. “Our Safe at Home Program will help ensure survivors of domestic violence get the protection they deserve.”

Sponsored by Sen. Julie Raque Adams, R-Louisville, the new law expands the Secretary of State’s Address Confidentiality Program by allowing victims of domestic violence to participate in the program without a judicial protective order, and masks their addresses on publicly available government records beyond just the voter rolls.
