Whitley County, Kentucky Man Accused of Pointing Rifle at Drivers Arrested after Police Temporarily Close U.S. Route 25 near KY/TN State Line

KY/TN State Line - The Whitley County, KY Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Sunday, April, 2, 2023, Deputies Brentley Patrick and Jarrett Carr were dispatched to the KY/TN state line to a report of a man walking down the highway pointing a rifle at people driving.

Deputies arrived and determined the suspect lived in very close proximity to the area he was seen with the rifle.

With assistance from Kentucky State Police, Campbell County, TN Sheriff's Office, and Jellico, TN Police Department, Officers were able to temporarily shut down a portion of Highway 25 and call the individual out from his home without incident.

Following an investigation into the incident, the male was identified as Harold Lynch, age 56 of Williamsburg, KY.

Mr. Lynch was arrested and transported to the Whitley County Detention Center.

Harold Lynch was charged with:

  • Two counts of Wanton Endangerment
  • Public intoxication

This individual was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
