JOSEPHINE COUNTY, OR (April 17, 2023) - The Oregon State Police (OSP) is reporting that on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at approximately 2:38 P.M., OSP responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 46, near milepost 4, in Josephine County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a silver 2008 Mercedes, operated by Caleb Allen Stewart, 23, of Yacolt, WA, was attempting to pass another vehicle on Highway 46, near milepost 4.
The Mercedes lost control, traveled through a fence and struck a tree. The operator was declared deceased at the scene by first responders.
Three passengers, Connor G. Reeves, 23, of Yacolt, WA, Lileana R. Hoffman,23, of Battleground, WA and Cora J. Horton, 24, of Grants Pass, were all transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.
