FATAL CRASH ON EASTBOUND INTERSTATE 10 IN LOUISIANA

RAMAH, LA – The Louisiana State Police is reporting that on Thursday, May 11, 2023, shortly after 11:30 P.M., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound, near milepost 129 in Iberville Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 48 year-old Khamphout Senesanouk of Texas.

The initial investigation revealed that Senesanouk was driving a Toyota Camry headed east on Interstate 10.  For reasons still being investigated, the Camry came to stop in the right lane of travel.  Subsequently, an 18-wheeler tractor trailer struck the rear end of the Camry.

Although seatbelt use is unknown at this time, Senesanouk succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  The driver of the 18-wheeler was properly restrained and uninjured.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics demonstrate that properly worn restraints can significantly reduce your risk of being injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
