ARREST: Moped Rider from Nicholasville, Kentucky nearly Collides Head-On with London Police Cruiser on KY 363 in Laurel County

LONDON, KY - The London Police Department is reporting that a Nicholasville man who almost collided head-on with a police cruiser while driving a moped was taken into custody by London Police Sgt. Drew Jackson.

Travis Wade Middleton, 34, of Richmond Ave., Nicholasville, KY was arrested on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10:37 P.M. 

According to Sgt. Jackson’s report, he was traveling on KY 363 and approaching the KY 192 interchange, when a moped driven by Middleton swerved into his lane and almost hit his cruiser head-on.

Sgt. Jackson conducted a traffic stop and noticed that Middleton was lethargic, his speech was slowed and slurred, and he smelled of alcoholic beverage. He also had two Suboxone strips in his wallet.

Middleton failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Travis Middleton was charged with:

  • DUI
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Reckless driving
  • No operator’s license
  • No registration plates
  • No registration receipt
  • Failure to maintain insurance.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
