Clay County, Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service Programs Announced for June, 2023

MANCHESTER, KY (May 29, 2023) - The Clay County Cooperative Extension Service announces upcoming programs for June, 2023.

Photography Days will be held June 5th, 8th & 21st at 11:00 AM. We will meet at the Clay County Extension Office and travel to various areas for photo opportunities including—Salt Works, Chesnut House, Cumberland Falls & Levi Jackson Park. Join us as we learn rules, techniques and take pictures! Spots are limited for transportation. You must call 598-2789 to register by May 31st. Parents/Guardians are welcome to transport your child to and from the event. This program is free, but you must be 9-18 years of age & an enrollment form must be completed before traveling. Participants’ best photos will be displayed at the 4-H Project Showcase. Winners may advance to Kentucky State Fair. Deadline for photo submissions will be June 30th.

Want to learn a new skill? Join us and learn how to make your very own basket! Basket Weaving will be held June 6th & 7th at 1:30 PM at the Clay County Extension Office and led by FCS Agent, Emily Boggs. Projects are encouraged to be entered for 4-H Showcase and potentially be entered for KY State Fair! This class is free, but you must be ages 9-18. Spots are limited. Call 598-2789 to register by May 31st.

Our monthly Cooking Through the Calendar class will be June 15th at 1:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. The June recipe in our 2023 Nutrition Education Program calendar is "Blueberry Cheesecake Bars". Join us and sample this delicious recipe. Please call 598-2789 to register. Free and open to the public.

Interested in learning how to be creative? Mark your calendars for our upcoming 4-H Art Club that will meet June 20th at 2:00 PM at the Clay County Extension Office. FREE & open to all youth ages 9-18. You must call to register at 598-2789 by May 12th.

Create 2 4-H Sewing Projects this summer! Youth will learn basic sewing skills and will have the opportunity to enter projects for our 4-H Project Showcase. These classes will take place June 22nd & July 10th at the Clay County Extension Office at 1:30 PM. FREE & open to all youth ages 9-18. You must call to register at 598-2789.

4-H Embroidery: learn basic embroidery skills and make 2 projects! Classes will be held June 27th & 28th at the Clay County Extension Office at 1:30 PM. You must call 598-2789 to register and be 9-18 years of age.
