LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Byron Grimes arrested Kevin M. Sparkman age 51 of East Bernstadt on Monday afternoon September 4, 2023 at approximately 4:56 PM.
The arrest occurred on Old Crab Orchard Road, approximately 2 miles north of London after Deputy Grimes was dispatched to a non-injury traffic crash there.
Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Grimes noted observing a beige Buick Regal in the ditch and unable to move.
The driver was still in the driver's seat attempting to drive the vehicle out of the ditch. Deputy Grimes detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver.
An investigation was conducted on the driver who was determined to be under the influence.
Kevin Sparkman was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
