ONE PERSON KILLED, THREE OTHERS INJURED IN FATAL CRASH INVOLVING A MICHIGAN AND A SOUTH CAROLINA VEHICLE ON INTERSTATE 75 IN LAUREL COUNY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Crash Reconstructionist Deputy Brad Mink is investigating a two vehicle, single death traffic fatality which occurred on I–75 approximately 8 miles South of London in the southbound lanes early Friday morning October 20, 2023 at approximately 1:43 AM.

The investigating deputy reports that apparently a gray colored Ford Expedition was traveling southbound in the far left passing lane during heavy rainfall and hydroplaned leaving the traveled portion of the roadway and striking the concrete median divider.

The Expedition then slid around traveling back into the far left passing lane causing a collision with a southbound white colored Subaru Impreza (which was also traveling in the far left passing lane). The passenger in the Subaru was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The occupants of the Ford Expedition included:

  • The driver, Robert Thomas Offer age 41 of Roseville, Michigan – Transported to Baptist Healthcare Hospital Corbin for treatment of injuries
  • The passenger, Christine Elizabeth Wnuk age 67 of Ira, Michigan– Transported to Baptist Healthcare Corbin for treatment of injuries

The occupants of the white colored Subaru Impreza included:

  • The driver, David Bryan Lowman age 58 of Greenville, South Carolina – Transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of injuries
  • The passenger, Bryan James Lowman age 24 of Spartanburg, South Carolina – Pronounced deceased at the scene by officials with the Laurel County coroner's office. No seatbelt was in use at the time of the crash.

The interstate southbound was closed for approximately three hours to allow for investigation of the crash site

Assisting at the scene were: For Laurel County Sheriff's office: shift Sgt. Travis Napier and Deputy Joe Breeding. Also assisting at the scene were: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, West Knox Fire and Rescue, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Fire Department and officials with Laurel County Coroner’s Office. Also assisting on the investigation was London City Police.

The crash investigation is continuing by Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brad Mink.
