Subject found with Suspected Methamphetamine after Assaulting a Police Officer during Arrest in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner along with shift Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested Joseph W. Morgan age 50 of London on Wednesday afternoon November 8, 2023 at approximately 1:42 PM.

The arrest occurred off Anders Road, approximately 8 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a male subject allegedly blocking neighbors in and trying to fight.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located the suspect hiding behind a residence.

When deputies made contact with the suspect, the suspect created a disturbance and began to reach for an object in his pockets.

Deputies attempted to detain the suspect who began to swing punches and kicked Sgt. Reeves multiple times.

Upon being arrested the suspect attempted to run and following a scuffle with deputies the suspect was taken into custody.

This individual was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine.

Joseph Morgan was charged with:

  • Assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
  • Resisting arrest
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

This individual complained of abdominal pain so deputies had EMS respond, transporting the accused to an area hospital for evaluation.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
