PTSD Awareness Walk Travels Through Laurel County, Kentucky on U.S. 25

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriffs Deputy Allen Turner encountered three ex-Marines escorting a Marine Corps flag through Laurel County on Highway 25.

Deputy Turner met the Marines on Monday morning December 3, 2023 who were walking on U.S. 25 north of London.

The Marines told Deputy Turner, they were walking 22 miles a day, traveling from the Parris Island Boot Camp in Parris Island, South Carolina to Cincinnati, Ohio to raise awareness to PTSD and suicide prevention in honor of a Deputy Sheriff who was a brother to one of the three participants in the walk.

The brother's ashes were being spread in the Cincinnati area.

Deputy Turner offered water and nutrition for the three, who are pictured beside his cruiser.
