EDDYVILLE, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that KSP Post 1 received a call from the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville at approximately 4:11 pm CT on Friday, December 8, 2023 advising that they were performing CPR on an inmate and requested emergency medical services.
Lyon County EMS responded to the penitentiary.
At approximately 4:31 pm CT, Lyon County EMS requested the coroner to respond.
At that time, KSP troopers also responded to the scene to conduct a death investigation.
The inmate has been identified as Ivan Orantes-Pierce, 31 years old of Louisville, Ky.
At this time there is no foul play suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for December 10, 2023.
The investigation remains ongoing by Detective Jones.
