SHOOTING INVESTIGATION IN RURAL EAST MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OREGON

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR - At 3:53 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, deputies responded to a disturbance at a home in the 8200 block of SE Cottrell Road, in east Multnomah County.

When deputies arrived, they found evidence of a shooting.

Out of an abundance of caution, deputies ordered the Portland Bureau of Emergency Communication (BOEC) to issue a reverse 911 call to homes in the immediate area asking people to shelter in place. When deputies determined there was no longer a public safety threat in the area, the reverse 911 call was lifted, around 6:15 a.m.

No deputies discharged their weapons in the course of the event. 

Southeast Cottrell Road is closed indefinitely between SE Carpenter Lane and SE Bluff Road.

The East County Major Crimes Team is on scene to conduct a the shooting investigation. The East County Major Crimes Team consists of detectives from the Sheriff’s Office, Gresham Police Department, the Port of Portland Police Department, Oregon State Police and the District Attorney’s Office.
