ARRESTS: OWNER OF BURGLARIZED HOME IN CORBIN, KENTUCKY FOLLOWS SUSPECTS UNTIL POLICE CONDUCT TRAFFIC STOP IN LAUREL COUNTY

 CORBIN, KY - The Knox County, Ky. Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Monday, December 25, 2023, at approximately 4:00 AM, Knox County Deputy Jesse Smith received a call regarding a burglary.

The reported burglary had occurred at a residence on Dogwood Trace in Corbin, KY.

The owner of the residence followed the two perpetrators into Laurel County.

A traffic stop was conducted by a Laurel County Deputy and joined by Deputy Smith.

Two people were taken into custody and the items stolen during the burglary were recovered from the stopped vehicle.

The arrested individuals identified as 43 year-old Joe Scalf of London, KY, and 26 year-old Felicia Smith of London, KY. were transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Joe Scalf was charged with:

  • Burglary-2nd Degree
  • Criminal Mischief-1st Degree

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center, held on a $25000.00 CASH bond.
