SUSPECT WITH RIFLE ARRESTED DURING SUSPICIOUS PERSON INVESTIGATION AFTER DARK AT A HOME IN LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrested Jason D. Bruner age 47 of Keller Rd., London on Tuesday evening December 26, 2023 at approximately 6:19 PM.

LSO logo Blackand Gold 200The arrest occurred on a property off Oneal Road, approximately 3 miles west of London after Sgt. Mehler was dispatched to a suspicious person complaint.

A home owner on Oneal Road reported a male subject whom she did not know on her front porch who appeared to be intoxicated.

The female home owner was in her driveway inside her vehicle and advised that the unknown male subject had approached her while she sat in her vehicle.

Sgt. Mehler arrived at the scene and noted observing the male suspect at the female homeowner’s vehicle. Sgt. Mehler conducted an investigation determining that the suspect was under the influence. In addition, Sgt. Mehler learned that allegedly the male suspect stated he had walked from Keller Road to go deer hunting.

Sgt. Mehler noted in his report that modern rifle deer season was over and it was well past dark.

The suspect was found in possession of a .45 caliber Henry Repeating Arms rifle that the suspect had placed on the homeowner’s porch.

It was determined through investigation that the suspect was a convicted felon having been convicted in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of:

  • Wanton endangerment
  • Flagrant nonsupport

Jason Bruner was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Public intoxication – controlled substances

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
