The Kentucky Board of Education Searching for new Commissioner

FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky Board of Education (KBE), with assistance from McPherson and Jacobson LLC, is seeking applications for the Commonwealth’s next education commissioner.

As the chief executive officer for both the KBE and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), the commissioner recommends and implements KBE policies and directs KDE in the management of the state’s 171 public school districts.

The job posting can be found on the McPherson and Jacobson website and on the KDE 2023-2024 Commissioner of Education search website. The closing date for applications will be Feb. 16 at 11:30 p.m. CT. The interview committee then will identify candidates, conduct interviews and formalize a list of finalists on March 7-8, with finalist interviews scheduled for March 18-19. The board’s goal is to have a new education commissioner in place by July 1.
