Man Acting Erratically and Having Dilated Pupils Taken into Custody During Traffic Stop off KY-490 in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - On Thursday, January 4, 2024 at approximately 11:40 P.M., Officer Mikey Ashurst arrested Cory Goldsberry, age 30 of London, KY.

Officer Ashurst reports that while on normal patrol he observed a vehicle just off of KY-490 exiting a parking lot without using a turn signal and not having a registration plate on the vehicle; and thus conducted a traffic stop.

Upon contact with Goldsberry, the operator, he observed him acting erratically and having dilated pupils.

Suspecting him to be under the influence, Officer Ashurst had Goldsberry complete Standard Field Sobriety Tests, and upon completion, determined that Goldsberry was under the influence and placed him under arrest.

Officer Ashurst was assisted on scene by Sgt. Wade Mitchell, Officer Josh Morgan, Officer Jared of the London Police Department and Sgt. Travis Napier of the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.

Cory Goldsberry was charged with:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence of Alcohol - 2nd Offense
  • Driving on DUI Suspended License - 2nd Offense (Aggravating Circumstance)
  • No Registration Plate
  • Failure to Wear Seat Belt and other minor traffic/moving related violations

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
