Contraband from Charlie Dye arrest

Science Hill, KY Man with Active Indictment Arrested with Drugs at Traffic Stop on West Highway 80 in Pulaski County

SOMERSET, KY - According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, December 11, 2023, Sheriff Bobby Jones reported that a Pulaski County man was in custody following a traffic stop.

The incident began when Detective Trent Massey with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division was travelling on West Highway 80 and observed a vehicle being operated by Charlie Dye, age 44, of Science Hill.

Detective Massey was familiar with Dye and was aware Dye had an active indictment for his arrest. Detective Massey conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

Upon stopping the vehicle, Detective Massey placed Dye in custody. Detective Massey searched Dye and located two baggies of Marijuana in his pocket, weighing approximately 42.6 grams.

Detective Tan Hudson arrived on scene to assist.

Detectives searched the vehicle and located:

  • Approximately 4.4 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 1.5 Suboxone tablets
  • 7 Gabapentin tablets
  • A glass smoking pipe
  • Baggies

Dye Charlie Pulaski Co 200

Charlie Dye was arrested and charged with the following from the traffic stop:

1. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd or greater offense – (> or = 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
2. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense – (< 20 D.U. Drug Unspecified Schedule 3)
3. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense – (< 20 D.U. Drug Unspecified)
4. Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz.) 1st Offense
5. Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess

Dye was also arrested and charged with the Pulaski Circuit Court Indictment:

1. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd or greater offense – (> or = 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
2. Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz.) 1st Offense
3. Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
4. Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree

The case remains under investigation by Detective Trent Massey of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division.
