TWO ESCAPED JUVENILES FROM A YOUTH CENTER IN GRAVES COUNTY, KENTUCKY CAPTURED AFTER VEHICLE AND FOOT PURSUIT

MAYFIELD, KY –  According to information from the Graves County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. At 10:00 PM, Sheriff's Deputies were assisting the Mayfield Police and Kentucky State Police in searching for two juveniles that had fled on foot from the Youth Development Center facility on U.S. 45 South earlier Thursday evening, when a stolen pickup from Weda Avenue was reported.

The stolen vehicle was described as a 2014 Chevrolet Pickup maroon in color, possibly taken by juveniles,

Within minutes deputies were eastbound on Interstate 24 in pursuit of the stolen vehicle, possibly occupied by the juvenile suspects.

The pursuit entered into Marshall County towards Lyon County. However, the suspects bailed from vehicle at Exit 31 and Police began a foot pursuit. 

A short time later at 10:36 PM, both the fleeing suspects had been captured and were in Police custody. The suspects were in fact the escapees, MarCellus Sowell age 17 and Darryl Goodwin age 16.

MAYFIELD, Ky. (Jan. 11, 2024) – On Thursday, Jan. 11, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1, was notified of two missing juveniles in Graves County.

MarCellus Sowell and Darryl Goodwin escaped from Mayfield Youth Development Center at approximately 7:15 p.m. CST on Jan. 11. The public should not approach these juveniles and if they are seen, the Kentucky State Police should be immediately notified.

MarCellus Sowell, a 17-year-old from New Albany, IN with ties to Hardin County, KY, is a bi-racial male, 5′ 8″ tall and approximately 120 lbs. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, a Carhartt hooded jacket, and orange sandals. Sowell was being detained on charges of complicity to robbery first degree.

Darryl Goodwin, a 16-year-old from Jefferson County, KY, is a black male, 5’6″ tall and approximately 130 lbs. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, a Carhartt hooded jacket, and orange sandals. Goodwin was being detained on charges of robbery first degree and possession of a handgun by a minor.
