ARREST: Strangulation of Female Victim after Verbal Argument Turns Violent in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joe Breeding along with Deputy Skyler McFarland arrested Nicholas Hubbard age 33 of Pine Top Road, London Sunday morning January 21, 2024, at approximately 5:00 AM.

LSO logo Blackand Gold 200The arrest occurred at a residence off Pine top Road, approximately 6 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call.

Laurel 911 dispatchers advised deputies that they could hear a verbal argument between a male and female on an open line.

While enroute to the scene deputies were advised that the apparent female victim had called back and advised that her boyfriend had pulled a handgun on her and her 19-year-old son and threatened to kill them. The 19-year-old had fled the residence to a nearby residence.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies noted that the female victim came walking from a field in front of the residence and stated that her boyfriend had a gun and was threatening to kill her.

Deputies noted visible injuries to the female victim’s face and neck and learned that a physical confrontation had allegedly occurred at the residence and that Nicholas Hubbard had threatened to kill her and her son.

In addition, the female victim advised that she was assaulted by Hubbard who pointed a gun at her and began to punch and choke her and dragged her by her hair across the floor and that she had blacked out while Hubbard was choking her and that she could not breathe.

In addition, during the investigation it was learned that Hubbard had allegedly broken the 19-year-old's iphone.

Deputies were able to locate the pistol allegedly involved in the incident –a silver colored Raven Arms .25 auto pistol and a loaded magazine.

Nicholas Hubbard was charged with:

  • Assault – 4th degree; two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree.
  • Strangulation – first-degree
  • Two counts of terroristic threatening – third-degree.
  • Interfering with communications
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO
  • Criminal mischief – first-degree.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
