NASHVILLE, TN MAN ARRESTED ON INTERSTATE 75 NEAR WILLIAMSBURG, KY AFTER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING FEMALE WITH HIS VEHICLE IN LAUREL CO & LEAVING THE SCENE

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sam Culp age 38 of Nashville, Tennessee was arrested in Whitley County by Williamsburg PD Officer Dorman Patrick, and Asst. Chief Brandon White on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at approximately 1:20 PM on I-75 southbound near Williamsburg on Williamsburg PD charges.

Williamsburg P.D. was observing for the vehicle, the suspect was arrested following an alleged assault with vehicle that occurred earlier in Laurel County and investigated by Deputy Tommy Houston.

Culp was charged on a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest obtained by Laurel Sheriffs Deputy Tommy Houston regarding his investigation into the alleged assault which occurred in Laurel County on Hicks Lane near London earlier.

Allegedly, Culp was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor and struck a female subject with the vehicle following a verbal argument.

After striking the female, Culp failed to stop and left the scene in his vehicle.

Deputy Houston knew the suspect was from Nashville, TN so he put out a bulletin to police agencies south of London.

Deputy Houston charged Sam Culp with:

  • Assault — first-degree and leaving the scene of an Accident- Executed by warrant by Williamsburg P.D.

Culp is currently lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
