LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting a scam that is circulating in the area. Apparently, unknown individuals are advising the public that they can go online or by phone and use a debit card to pay their property taxes.
The only acceptable means of paying your taxes are:
- By mail using a check or money order
- In person, individuals may use cash, check, money order, or a debit card.
** Please report any attempt to solicit your payment of taxes online or by phone.
The Laurel County Sheriff's office continues to investigate this latest scam.
