SHERRI HELTON (Bell County Detention Center)

PINEVILLE, KY WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER BARRICADING STREET AND ALLEGEDLY DEMANDED IDENTIFICATION FROM MOTORISTS

PINEVILLE, KY - The Bell County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: Early Friday morning April 12, 2024 at 2:15 a.m., Bell County Deputy Hunter Luttrell responded to a Jones Avenue address in Pineville to a woman who had blocked the roadway with with wood, a mattress, and other trash not allowing people to get to their homes.

Once on scene Deputy Luttrell came in contact with two individuals stating they were in their vehicle when the woman, later identified as 43-year-old Sherri Helton of Pineville, would not let them through the street and demanded identification.

They also stated that Helton placed a barrier behind their vehicle not allowing them to backup.

When one of the victims tried to move the barricade, Helton struck him with a 2x4 in the arm.

Once deputies came to the home, Helton was heard inside the trailer breaking glass and when asked to come out of the residence, she refused.

She was seen at the window with a long pipe and blood was seen on the outside of the trailer and the front door.

Arriving on scene a short time later were additional Sheriff's Deputies, Kentucky State Police, Pineville Police, and Barbourville Police to assist.

Still refusing to exit the home, Helton was seen barricading herself inside the home.

After another attempt to have Helton exit the trailer and her refusing, Barbourville Police deployed pepper balls into the home.

A short time later she came out onto the porch making contact with Deputy Luttrell and Chief Deputy Jared Smith, but still would not comply with directions from the deputies and resisted arrest before being taken into custody and transported to jail.
