Early Morning Theft Arrest after Officers Respond to Report of Suspicious Activity in a London, Kentucky Neighborhood

LONDON, KY - The London Police Department (LPD) is reporting that on Friday, April 26, 2024 at approximately 2:52 a.m., LPD Officer Kendric Smith arrested William Riley, age 27 of London, KY.

London PD logo 200LPD Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity where multiple subjects had been seen walking through citizens yards.

Upon arrival, Officers encountered Riley and another subject with drug paraphernalia and other contraband within plain view.

Also located, was a 2018 Cadillac XTS which was not registered to anyone on scene and did not come back to this address.

The owners of the vehicle were contacted and advised that they had not given permission for anyone to have the vehicle and that it should not be at that address.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Riley had taken the vehicle and driven it to that location.

The keys for the vehicle were also found among Riley's belongings during a search incident to arrest.

Upon being arrested, Riley began making threatening statements to the officers on scene.

Riley was arrested and later lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

William Riley was charged with:

  • Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or more
  • Public Intoxication
  • Menacing
  • Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree
