Subject walking in middle of a Laurel Co. roadway arrested

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brad Mink along with Deputy Taylor McDaniel and Deputy Joey Robinson arrested David Smith, Jr. age 54 of White Oak Road London early Saturday morning July 6, 2019 at approximately 6:40 A.M..

The arrest occurred off West Laurel Rd.(Ky 192) approximately 2 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a male subject walking in the middle of the roadway.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located this male subject walking in the middle of the roadway and noted that he appeared to be unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and had no knowledge of what roadway he was walking on.

This subject stated that he had used Meth during the night and was still under the influence. An investigation was conducted and this subject was determined to be under the influence.

In addition,deputies located this subject in possession of suspected Methamphetamine.

David Smith, Jr. was charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
