PSA: Clay County Cooperative Extension Service programs for August, 2019

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service upcoming programs for August, 2019.

 ►No-Cost Medical Services – August 3rd – 10th – Monday-Saturday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Sunday: Noon – 4:00 pm
The U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Military’s reserve forces, in partnership with the Kentucky Department for Local Government, present Operation Coal Country Medical IRT. These clinics will provide medical screenings, dental exams, optical exams and one pair of single-prescription glasses at no cost to the patient. First come, first served – ages 2 through adult – no proof of insurance or I.D. needed.
Locations: Clay County - EXCEL Building and the Oneida Community Church, Jackson County: Grace Covenant Ministries at Annville Institute, Knox County: First Baptist Church, Leslie County: 911 Call Center on Highway 421.

►Plate It Up Cooking School will be on August 15th at 6:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. We will sample 3 different Plate It Up recipes. Remember, all the recipes will be fruits and vegetables that can be grown in Kentucky gardens. Please call 598-2789 to register. Free and open to the public.

►Grow Appalachia-”Putting your Garden to Rest” will be held August 15th at 6:00 pm at Red Bird Mission. Free and open to the public.
►The Kentucky State Fair begins August 15th –25th in Louisville. Please visit the website for more information: kystatefair.org

►4-H Paint Night is August 22nd at 4:45 pm at the EXCEL Building. Come join us and paint your very own canvas. This is a kid-friendly paint day, and parents/guardians are encouraged to paint with their kids(s). This is a great opportunity to explore a new hobby and enjoy family bonding time. FREE! Limited spots are available. Snacks will be available and door prizes will be given away! You must call 598-2789 to register by Monday, August 29th. Kenna Spears will be teaching the painting class for us. Sponsored by: Clay County Extension Office and the Clay County Family Resource Centers.

►Cooking by the Calendar is August 26th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. You will enjoy August calendar recipes. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy new recipes on a monthly basis. Call 598-2789 to register. Free and open to the public.

►Clay County Beekeepers Association will meet Thursday, August 29th at the EXCEL Building at 6:00 pm. The program will be a panel discussion on what is currently happening in the hive. Free & open to anyone interesting in beekeeping. Please register on Beekeeping Facebook page.
