Burglary Tools arrests in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2019) -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston Along with Deputy Josh Morgan, Sgt. John Inman, K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler, and CSO Judy Morgan arrested two individuals early Thursday morning September 26, 2019 at approximately 12:13 AM.

The arrests occurred off North Laurel Rd.(U.S. 25) near London after deputies responded to a possible burglary in progress at a business there.

Deputies learned that apparently recently this individual had items stolen from his business.

The owner of the business advised he had spotted two individuals on bicycles near his business pulling a small trailer and emerging from behind his business.

Deputies located the two individuals and found them in possession of power tools, cutting tools and a prybar along with ski masks. One of the two individuals had an outstanding warrant.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

James R. Jent age 42 of Little County Rd., East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree
  • Possession of burglary tools

Justin Jent age 19 of Little County Rd., East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree
  • Possession of burglary tools.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
  • Criminal mischief – second-degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle
  • Wanton endangerment – second-degree
  • Improper turning

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
