KSP Charges Knott Co. Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

Hindman, Ky. (February 18, 2020) — At approximately 11:44 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested David Branam, 55, on a charge related to possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor in the 1st degree.

Branam was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after receiving a request for assistance from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, in reference to an interview. During the course of the interview, the suspect was observed possessing images of child sexual exploitation.

Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Branam is currently charged with one count of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor in the 1st degree. The charge is a Class D-Felony and is punishable by one to five years in prison. Branam was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
