February, 2021 Programs for Clay County, Kentucky from the Cooperative Extension Service

MANCHESTER, KY (February 6, 2021) - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service upcoming programs for February, 2021.

♦Poster & Essay Contest – 2021 Theme: “Kentucky Agriculture Never Stops” – open to all Kentucky student’s grades K through 12.

Student may submit either a poster, essay, or digital submission about theme for the contest. Only one entry per student. Each submission must be accompanied by a completed entry form taped or glued to the back o the entry. No staples. All artwork and writing material must be exclusively student-created. Each statewide grade winner and one digital art winner will receive a $100 award and recognized at the 2021 Poster and Essay Awards Ceremony, date and location TBD. Essays and posters may be featured in various department publications, online and special events, including the 2021 Kentucky State Fair. Entries become the property of the KDA/KyAEC and may be used at events and in publicity materials. Entries are not guaranteed to be returned. Entries must be postmarked by Monday, March 1, 2021. ♦Clay County Cooperative Extension Service and Tammy Jones, RN MSN Allied Health Instructor for Laurel County Center for Innovation, American Heart Association, CPR & FA Instructor, will present two programs in February:

  • Heimlich Maneuver, for adult and child, will be on February 9th at 4:00 pm.  This program will demonstrate how to clear an obstructed airway.
  • CPR will be on February 11th at 4:00 pm.  This program will demonstrate how to perform hands-on only CPR for an adult and how to use an AED.  

These programs will be on the Clay County Cooperative Extension Service Facebook page and will be a live presentation.  Call 598-2789 to let us know you will be watching.

♦The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s will be February 19th at 2:00 pm on Facebook Live. “Like” our Facebook page – Clay County Cooperative Extension Service. Join Lora Lee as she shares this information on Alzheimer’s.  This program is the February Homemaker Leader’s Training.  It is free and open to the public.

 ♦4-H Cloverbud Kits can be picked up February 22nd-26th from 8 am – 4 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Youth will make their own kazoo! FREE & available to all youth ages 5-8. Limited kits available. You must call 598-2789 to register by February 16th.

Cooking by the Calendar is February 26th at 1:30 pm.  Tune in to Facebook Live for the February recipe from the 2021 Food & Nutrition Calendar.  “Like” our Facebook page – Clay County Cooperative Extension Service. Join others that like to prepare new recipes.

4-H Crafty Artist Kits will be available for pickup March 1st – 5th from 8 am – 4 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Project of the month: St. Patrick’s Day Gnome. FREE & available to all youth ages 8-18. Limited kits available. You must call 598-2789 to register.
